As part of "Operation Plowshare" a 3 kiloton atomic bomb was denoted underground at this site on December 10, 1961.

How to Get There

Off U.S. Highway 285 in Loving, New Mexico, go east on Route 31. Then at the Route 128 Junction, make a right and head east. Proceed for eight miles then make a right on a dirt road heading south. There will be a fork, go to the right, and go about four and a third miles, and then make a left. From there go east about 1/10 - 2/10's of a mile the site.

For those with a portable GPS, the exact location of Gnome is 32 degrees 15'46.7"N / 103 degrees 51'57.3"W.
